A fundraiser comedy improv show will be held at Station Theater (1230 Houston Ave.) on Saturday September 8th, 2018 at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will go towards Spectrum Fusion, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to help our participants (Reactors) develop a sense of belonging and purpose by bringing together the community and collaborating ideas for each person's unique talents.
One woman has a controversial method of aiding adults on the autism spectrum with finding work that is both sustaining and fulfilling to them. By bringing customized experts together on a panel into a ‘Reactor Room’, each member (called ‘Reactors’) gets personalized assistance in creating the life of their dreams. Somewhere between make-a-wish and a think-tank for its members, Spectrum Fusion is making dreams come true in a way that isn’t being done anywhere else.
The Reactor Room is a brand new program… the first of its kind. The reactor room creates teams with diverse specialists including therapists, educators, community connectors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders to brainstorm ways that we can find new opportunities for adults on the autism spectrum.
In the Reactor Room, our teams create 'fusion' through intense collaborative brainstorming. These teams share all of their available resources and connections to create opportunities for these amazing individuals.
“Everybody wants to belong, to connect with others, and to be understood. Social belonging is the sense of being connected and having positive human relationships with others and belonging is a basic human need.” - Dr. Heidi Ham on the importance of the community built by the Reactor Room.
For example, if an individual is not ready for a college or training course, but they have an interest and/or emerging talent for video production - let's find a way to develop this talent! Using our connections, somebody will connect with film school or and find a tutor to assess the individual's level and work with them 1:1. This may lead to their ability to take on small projects and even to attend a course in the future.
“Life-changing ideas are the result of brainstorming and collaboration powered by teams of bold and innovative individuals from all walks of life.” - Dr. Heidi Ham on the importance of the collaboration available through the Reactor Room.
A call to action: Join us for a night of entertainment at Station Theater to support this vision. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Spectrum Fusion.
